MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's soccer team fell 3-0 in conference play Saturday evening. Conceding two early PKs in the first half, the Running Eagles had chances but were unable to score, losing to the RV Night Hawks 3-0 at Lupo Family Field.
The Running Eagles and Night Hawks both created chances in the opening minutes, but it was Thomas who broke the scoring in the 3rd minute when the Running Eagles got caught in an unfortunate challenge sending the Night Hawks to the spot to open the game 1-0.
Thomas University then doubled their lead just under ten minutes later as again a TU striker went down in the box, earning another PK opportunity and doubling the score, 2-0.
After that, both teams continued to create chances before the break with Stephane Shongo forcing a save in the 23rd minute as Life gained momentum. This opportunity ultimately proved to be a vital chance as neither team scored again before halftime.
Both teams took five shots in the first half, but for Life U., is was to no avail, with the Night Hawks recording saves on both shots in the opening half of play.
In the second half, the Running Eagles went on to tally six additional shots , but the Thomas offense again proved too much to handle as the Night Hawks netted the final goal of the contest in the 59th minute.
In the end, the Running Eagles were out shot 12-11, conceded more corners 4-2, and picked up more fouls 14-11.
Life U. now looks to get back on track against Tennessee Southern this Thursday in Pulaski, TN.
