MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's soccer team cruised to a much needed win over Point University Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Running Eagles now claim a spot in SSAC postseason play, traveling to keep their season alive at Dalton State.
The much-needed win against Point kicked off with intensity as Luciano Diaz made an instant impact early on, securing the first goal just over two minutes into the contest. The Running Eagles then saw Luciano Diaz score again at the 6:07 mark, this time assisted by Stephane Shongo 2-0.
Zane Whitehead narrowed the gap to 2-1 with a penalty kick later in the half, but again it was Diaz finding the back of the net to complete his hat-trick in the first half, The first 45 concluded with Life in control at 4-1.
The Running Eagles then continued their dominance in the second half as Bruno Sperandio scored just moments after kickoff, followed by Diaz's fourth goal at 51:03. The Running Eagles then netted one final goal in the final 45 before Brandon Cervantes and Alejandro Schmidt scored consolation goals to end the match.
After 90, the Running Eagles earned an emphatic 7-3 victory.
