MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University men's volleyball team hosted a pair of matches against Milligan today, dominating both matches with a rotation of 17 players.
Match 1: Life U 3, Milligan 0
The Running Eagles cruised through a three-set victory against Meredith in the day's opener, winning the three sets 25-15, 25-18, 25-14.
Life University tallied 35 kills in the match but committing nine errors in the win over the Buffs. Diego Perez and Ryan Ollie each picked up where they left off after Friday afternoon's downing of St. Andrews lead Life U with nine kills each.
Ollie and Alexis Sanchez each picked up six digs in the sweep, while Nefty Vigo led the way in assists with 27.
Match 2: Life U 3, Milligan 1
After an hour intermission, both teams hopped back on the court, with a rejuvenated Milligan team stunning the Running Eagles with an impressive 25-20 set one win.
After proving to be tough competition in the first set the Buffs eventually succumbed to the Running Eagles losing the next three. Life U eventually took the match 25-15, 25-16, 25-27 over the next three sets.
The Running Eagles had a much more dominant offensive showing in the second match of the day, recording 28 kills to Milligan's 18 in the match led by David Barcan with 17. Following the Italian, Perez recorded 11. Nefty Vigo accounted for a stellar 42 assists, all but seven of Life U's assists in the match.
Serving as the libero, Gavin Wright recorded a team-best 12 digs.
Up next, the Running Eagles return to action Wednesday in the Upper Gym facing conference foe Truett McConnell University.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
