LEBANON, Tenn. - The Life University women's soccer team was unable to down the talented Cumberland Phoenix, falling 2-1 on the road Wednesday afternoon.
On a sunny and hot day at Lindsey Donnell Stadium, the Running Eagles fell behind in the first half after a CU goal in the 25th minute.
Despite going down, the Running Eagles answered back in the second half after Lilja Bjorg Olafsdottir received a pass from Anakah Madril to level the contest at one apiece.
The Phoenix led in the shot count 17-6 while Life U goalkeeper Grace Staunton made four saves.

First, a Sara Diaz shot sailed wide left before Madril sent one just high in the 83rd minute. Sacha Millward sent another shot just a minute later, before the Running Eagles' final attempt of the game came in the final minutes off a corner.
With less than a minute on the clock, an Olafsdottir corner found the head of Tio Krizogono whose header went wide of the net.
From there, Cumberland expired the clock.
Up next, the Running Eagles will be back in action this Sunday as they travel to Dalton State to open SSAC competition.
