Dalton, Ga. - The Life U women's soccer team won their first conference game of the season with a 3-2 victory over in-state rivals Dalton State.
The Running Eagles were the first ones on the board in the first half as Tio Krizogono capitalized early in the 10' minute for her first goal of the season off of an assist from Lilja Bjorg Olafsdottir. Shortly after, the Roadrunners were able to put one through the net to bring it to an early tied game.
Life U was not ready to end the first half yet, and continued to battle through Dalton State's defense with two more goals to go into the second half. Sara Diaz was able to net a goal in 34' off of a Sacha Millward assist. The third goal was assisted again by Millward and graduate student Anakah Madril found the ball at her feet to make it a 3-1 lead going into the half.
The second half started slow for both teams, but the Roadrunners did not want to go down without a fight and scored a late goal in the 76'. The Running Eagles were able to hold the 3-2 lead to end the game.
Overall, Life U dominated on the attack side with 25 shots to Dalton's eight in the contest.
Up next, the Running Eagles will host Middle Georgia State University at Lupo Family Field Thursday, September 21 at 6 p.m.
