Women's Volleyball Earns Another SSAC Sweep

MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University women's volleyball team continued their flawless conference streak to begin the 2023 season Friday, tabbing a 3-0 sweep over Point University.

The Running Eagles struggled in the opening set as the Skyhawks jumped ahead in the contest with a quick 5-1 lead.  The Running Eagles then struggled to catch up in the opening set as every offensive resurgence was countered by stellar digs and play from Point. An eventual Skyhawk error leveled the set at 13 apiece, but it was the Running Eagles 10-1 run that pushed the team ahead 20-15. Point then closed the frame with a 7-5 run, but the damage was done as a Chloe Teter kill concluded the opening frame, 25-22.

In the second set, Life U jumped out of the gates to gain an early 5-0 advantage before an eventual service error turned the ball over 5-1. The service error was merely a bump in the road for the efficiently attacking Running Eagles as they regained momentum instantly, going on another equally impressive run and forcing a Point timeout, 16-5. The Skyhawks then clawed back to make it closer, but the Running Eagles were still out in front 25-17.

With two set wins behind them, the Running Eagles had no problems in the third set initially as they gained a 24-17 lead before struggling to conclude the match with five consecutive errors. In the end, a block from Je'Bria Green and Fayola Louis finished the set and match, 25-17.

Life U had 46 kills to Middle Georgia's 27 as both teams had 23 errors. The Running Eagles led in every other positive statistical category as Fayola Louis continued to impress with another double-digit kill performance (15).

Up next, the Running Eagles stay on the road next week, traveling to the University of Mobile to face the Rams on Friday, September 29th at 7 pm et.
