COCHRAN, Ga. ---- The Life University men's basketball team fell behind in the first half on the road against Middle Georgia, never recovering in a 73-66 loss Wednesday afternoon.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Elias Ramirez led the Running Eagles in scoring with 16 points in the game.
• Nathan Pressnell added 14 points with six rebounds and two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U led 6-2 early in the first half after a jumper from Presnell.
• Middle Georgia State then went on a 14-2 run to lead 16-8 with 13 minutes remaining in the half.
• The Running Eagles then tied the contest with a run of their own, 18-18, giving the Running Eagles all the momentum by the nine minute mark.
• After the tie, Middle Georgia again grew their lead, carrying a 37-32 lead into the break.
- Life U continued to try and cut into the deficit throughout the second half, but Knights refused to give away the lead, leading by a game-high 11, 54-43, after a jumper.
- The Running Eagles then cut the lead to four, 60-56, before an 8-2 run put the Knights back ahead 68-58 with 1:02 on the clock.
• Life U then cut it to a two possession game, but Middle Georgia continued to hold on to earn the 73-66 win as time expired.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 25-for-66 from the field, 37.9%, while MGA State shot 26-for-61, 42.6%. The Running Eagles finished 8-for-27, 32.1% from beyond the arc, as the Knights went 3-for-16, 18.8%.
• Life U held the advantage in assists over Middle Georgia State 19-16 as the Knights outscored the Running Eagles 32-26 in points in the paint.
• Life U shot 7-for-12, 58%, from the free-throw line as Middle Georgia finished 18-29, 62.1%.
