Women's Basketball Remains Hot, Downs Middle Georgia 74-54

MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (14-4) defeated Middle Georgia 77-54 on Wednesday night, getting out in transition as three Running Eagles reached double-digits. Maeisha Teasley led all scorers with a game high 26 points.

Three Running Eagles finished in double digits on the night. Maeisha Teasley paced the squad with 26 points as well as four assists, a steals and nine rebounds. Brionna Sims put up 14 points with three steals and five rebounds. While point guard Maikya Simmons flirted with a double-double with 11 points and a six assists to go along with three steals.

In a game in which Life U never trailed, the Running Eagles took no time getting things going. In the first quarter, while the Running Eagles held the lead for the entire period, the Knights wouldn't allow them more than a six point lead. The second quarter was a different story though as 34-26 by halftime. The second quarter saw the Running Eagles gain some momentum and finally began to break away as transition baskets broke the game open.

While Middle Georgia didn't allow the Running Eagles to run away with the lead in much of the second half, Life U was eventually able to break the game open in fourth. The Running Eagles narrowly carried a lead going into the fourth 45-43, but broke the game open with a 12-0 run to start the fourth, 57-43. They continued to roll in the final 10 minutes and went up by their largest margin of the game at 72-52. They eventually claimed the 74-64 victory, winning their second straight game.

The Running Eagles will remain in SSAC play on Saturday, Jan. 20 as they travel to face Brewton-Parker at 12 pm.
