WALESKA, Ga. - The Life University men's soccer team held on to win a heavily contested match over in-state rivals Reinhardt Tuesday evening.

The Running Eagles were able to put a goal on the board in the first half as Thomas Rodella assisted Finn Seijsener to capitalize on an opportunity in the 41st minute. The Running Eagles then doubled their lead in the second half as Rodella added another goal to his impressive rookie campaign with a solo effort in the 47th minute.

The second half was not all Life U in the attack though as, despite pushing down Reinhardt's defense, the Running Eagles were not able to score again leading RU to cut into the lead in the 72nd minute. Sophomore George Edgley stood strong in goal making four saves, including a much -needed 79th minute save to keep the teams level.

In the end, Life U controlled much of the attack with 15 shots to Reinhardt's nine in the contest.

"Great win for our team and program," Head Coach Alex Pama said. "We challenged the guys to show energy and determination which we were lacking in some of our previous games and they responded magnificent. Now we get ready for two tough home matches. We will need our fans both days to be our 12th man. Upwards we keep going."

Up next, the Running Eagles return home to host a pair of SSAC contests.  Kickoff against #16 William Carey at Lupo this Friday is set for 7:30 pm.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

-- Freshman Thomas Rodella continued his stellar rookie campaign with an additional goal and assist in the contest, leading the SSAC in points (34) and goals (14).
