Three Individuals Named Champions at Eagle Madness Open

MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Life University women's wrestling team had an impressive showing at the Eagle Madness Open, with multiple athletes delivering standout performances that led to numerous podium finishes. The Running Eagles showcased strength in every weight class, securing three individual titles, dominant showings from Anaya Falcon, Salyna Shotwell, and Ugochi Anunobi.

Anaya Falcon, competing in the 110 lbs bracket, dominated her path to victory with decisive wins throughout the tournament. Her journey included a tech fall in the quarterfinals and a fall in the semifinals, setting up a thrilling final where she secured a hard-fought 10-3 decision over Emilie Gonzalez from Iowa.

In the 117 lbs category, Salyna Shotwell was nothing short of unstoppable. Her dominance was clear as she won all her matches by fall, including an impressive 40-second pin in the finals against Shammilka Miranda of Cumberlands.

Ugochi Anunobi, wrestling at 160 lbs, showcased her versatility with a mix of falls and tech falls, capping her run with a 10-0 tech fall over Micah Fisher from the Cumberlands in the championship match. Anunobi's relentless performance earned 25.5 team points, the highest individual contribution in the entire tournament.

Beyond the champions, Life University had several other notable performances. Ariana Martinez (124 lbs) battled her way to the finals, finishing as the runner-up after a tough 10-1 decision loss to Cali Leng (Iowa). Meanwhile, Olivia Mottley (131 lbs) fought her way to a third-place finish, racking up 21.0 team points after multiple falls. Eventually, she claimed a forfeit victory over teammate Riley Dalrymple in the 3rd place match.

Anna Krejsa (124 lbs) also claimed a third-place finish with a 4:43 fall in her final match. Additional podium finishes included Kaci Bice (110 lbs) and Riley Dalrymple (131 lbs), who both took fourth place. In the 160 lbs bracket, Zayla Vann secured sixth place.

Other Running Eagles to compete included: 

Macie Anderson (103 lbs) who lost her first match but rebounded with two wins before falling in the consolation semifinals. Diana Gonzalez (110 lbs) who overcame an early loss to win three straight matches, including two tech falls, before a injury forfeit ended her run. Shahreen Gulacha (117 lbs) who won three consolation matches, including two tech falls, but lost in the cons. semifinals. Mariah Robbins (117 lbs) who won her first match but was eliminated by Shammilka Miranda and teammate Sidney Sullens in the consolation bracket. Sidney Sullens (117 lbs) who was won with a handful of pins before ultimately losing a close match. Brooke French (117 lbs) who won early but lost in the cons. semifinals. Jasmine Godinez's (124 lbs) tournament run included a tech fall win and a fall in the first two rounds, but she was defeated by Delialah Betances in the quarterfinals. She bounced back with a decision victory and another fall in the consolations before falling to teammate Anna Krejsa in the semifinals.

Ulyette Curiel (131 lbs) who secured two tech falls on the day. Estefany Garcia's tournament run began strong with a fall in the first round, but she was defeated by Virginia Foard in Round 2. Garcia then surged through the consolation bracket, winning four consecutive falls. Her momentum was halted when she forfeited her match against teammate Riley Dalrymple. Morgan Sacharczyk (Life University) began her tournament run with a win by fall over Tristin Robinson (Huntingdon). She was then defeated by Reagen Gallaway (Hastings) by tech fall in the second round. After receiving a bye in the third round, Sacharczyk was eliminated in the consolation rounds by Annabelle Suto (University of the Cumberlands) who won by fall. Christina Jaen (145 lbs) won two matches before falling short in the semifinals, Megan Stottsberry (145 lbs also earned a tech fall win over Uriah Peters-Gutierrez (Montreat) and Clara Massa (180 lbs) won a consolation match after an early bump into the lower bracket, also in the 180 lbs bracket, Anetra Witherspoon picked up a single win on the day with a pin over Reagan Smith (Mount Olive).
