MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University women's wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the Blue Hose Open as several athletes secured top-5 finishes, highlighted by two second place finishes.
At 110 lbs, Kaci Bice had an excellent tournament, advancing to the finals with a dominant tech fall (11-1) and a narrow decision victory (9-8). In the championship match, she fell to Chloe Dearwester of Presbyterian by tech fall (10-0), earning a hard-fought second-place finish.
In the 124-lb bracket, Anna Krejsa also secured a runner-up finish. She cruised through the early rounds with consecutive tech fall wins (10-0, 11-0) before meeting Alyssa Mahan of Presbyterian in the finals, where she lost by tech fall (10-0). Also at 124 lbs, Ariana Martinez bounced back after an opening-round loss, dominating the consolation bracket and finishing with a redemption tech fall (14-3) victory third place.
At 131 lbs, Jordyn Chrisco overcame an early injury default in the quarterfinals to finish fifth. She earned multiple wins in the consolation rounds, including two by fall and one by tech fall. Chrisco concluded her tournament with a fall over Ashley Diaz of Presbyterian in the fifth-place match.
In the 138-lb division, Morgan Sacharczyk started strong with a quick pin in her opening match. After falling into the consolation bracket, she later rebounded with a dominant tech fall (10-0) against Sophia Walls (Lincoln Memorial University) to secure a third-place finish.
At 145 lbs, Zayla Vann advanced to the semifinals with a pin in the quarterfinals but fell just short of the finals after a close decision loss (6-3). Vann then third place with a tech fall (12-2) over Dara Lin of Newberry to conclude her tournament run.
In the 160-lb bracket, Ugochi Anunobi began the tournament with a bye and an impressive tech fall (11-0) in the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, an injury finished her tournament run.
The 180-lb bracket saw two standout performances from teammates Clara Massa and Anetra Witherspoon. Massa had a solid tournament, earning two pins during her run and finishing fourth after falling to Witherspoon in the third-place match. Witherspoon then rebounded after a semifinal loss to Lana Clayton (Presbyterian) by dominating the consolation rounds, earning a tech fall (10-0) and a 5-0 decision over Massa to claim third place.
Overall, the Running Eagles earned multiple podium finishes. Up next, the program takes a short break before traveling to the Patriot Open to compete Dec. 6-7th.
