COCHRAN, Ga. - The Life U women's basketball team traveled to Cochran to secure a 46-45 victory over Middle Georgia State University on Wednesday evening.Â
Playing the Knights for the first time this season, the Running Eagles gave their all to separate from Middle Georgia and improve to 7-4 overall.Â
After a closely contested first quarter, the Running Eagles took control in the second quarter, outscoring Middle Georgia 13-7 to establish early momentum. Senior Brionna Sims got things going with four points after successfully scoring two free throws and a jumper. Kenya Robinson added four points and three rebounds. After a strong second quarter, the Running Eagles carried a 25-21 lead into the halftime break.Â
The third quarter was evenly played, with Dianis Hurtado scoring six points from a free throw, a three-pointer, and two field goals. Simms added four points and an assist, Zayjah Knight and Robinson both added another two points, resulting in a 39-34 lead.
Middle Georgia clawed back in the fourth quarter to cut their deficit to single digits, but the fight fell short as the Knights failed to catch the Running Eagles.Â
Overall, Sims led the team with twelve points and added seven rebounds. Hurtado delivered eleven points and five rebounds, while Robinson led the team with 14 rebounds.Â
Up next, the Running Eagles travel to compete in SSAC play against Brewton-Parker College this upcoming Friday, December 6th.Â
