FORT VALLEY, Ga. - The Life U Men's volleyball team held tough in a road contest at Fort Valley State falling in straight sets to the Wildcats 3-0. The Running Eagles kept it close throughout the last set only losing by two.
The Running Eagles fought hard in the first set as the two were going point-for-point down the stretch. The Wildcats were able to answer and go on a 5-1 run towards the end forcing back-to-back bad sets to cost Life U the first set.Â
The Wildcats had their largest win in the second set with a 25-19 victory, but Life U pushed them to the brink in the third set.Â
The Running Eagles led for a large portion of the third set with it coming down to the wire after Fort Valley went on a 5-0 run at the end bringing the score to 24-21 with the Wildcats ready to close the game. After two errors by Fort Valley, the Wildcats were able to end the game on a kill.
Up next, the Running Eagles return home to host Bluefield University (Va.) in AAC competition Friday at 7 p.m. in the Upper Gym.Â
TURNING POINT:
--Life U held a 21-19 lead over Fort Valley in the third set but was unable to close it out, falling 25-23 to go down 3-0.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Nefty Vigo led Life U with six digs and ended on 28 assists.Â
--Freshman Xavier Jones led the Running Eagles with eight kills.
