MARIETTA, Ga. - In the first conference competition, the Life U men's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 victory over Bluefield University (Va.) at home Friday night. 

The Running Eagles overcame the Rams in all three sets and took down Bluefield in three straight sets.

Xavier Jones led all players with 15 kills and sophomore David Barcan was also outstanding, creating 12 kills.

Jose Llaneza delivered six kills to go with four service aces. 

The Rams and Running Eagles went back and forth in the first couple of rallies, but a quick 6-0 run from the Running Eagles helped them control the rest of the first set. Llaneza delivered back-to-back service aces to make it 19-13 lead for Life U and an error by Bluefield closed out the first set.

The second set was a close battle with both teams providing some resistance. After only leading 17-16, the Running Eagles went on a 5-1 run to create enough space for Life U to take the second set away from the Rams.  

Bluefield provided some resistance again early in the third, but the Running Eagles were able to go on a 4-0 run and change the third set into the last. Barcan was able to add one last kill that closed out the match.

Up next, the Running Eagles will be back home Sunday at 11 am for a match up against St. Andrews University.
