Men's Lacrosse Dominates at Home Defeating Shorter 17-11

MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U men's lacrosse team overcame an early deficit and pulled away to defeat Shorter 17-11 on Saturday night at Lupo Family Field.

This marks the Running Eagles first win at home and their second of the season.

On Saturday, the Hawks were able to jump out to an early lead, scoring the opening two goals of the game, Life U was able to make a quick comeback scoring four goals in the second half of the first quarter. In the second quarter the seven goals scored by the Running Eagles helped grow its lead to 11-5 at halftime. 

In the third quarter the Hawks came back with a fight going on a 4-0 run bringing the score to 12-9 with seven minutes to go in the quarter. The rest of the third quarter was still a scoring battle, but Life U left the Hawks scoreless in the last 15 minutes to end the night on the win. 

Once again Jacob Long went on a scoring frenzy and also added to his career high with six goals and a pair of assists. Mackoy Bodmer also added six goals to earn a career high too. It marked Long's fifth game with a hat trick. 

Josh Bell also pitched in outstanding offensive performances for Life U with three goals and two assists while Christopher Tyson enjoyed another dominant game, winning 20-29 faceoffs.

Up next, the Running Eagles will head on the road to Babson Park, Fla. to take on Webber International University on March 16 at 1 p.m.
