TALLADEGA, Ala. - The Life U women's volleyball team dropped a pair of straight set decisions Friday against Talladega College and Johnson University to start their weekend at the Talladega Invite.
Match 1: Talladega 3, Life U 0
The Running Eagles were not able to move past the Tornadoes after dropping the first set 25-19. Talladega was able to use that momentum from the first set to claim the next two 25-21 and 25-19.
Chloe Teter posted nine kills to lead the Running Eagles while Gianna DeVarennne added nine digs.
Talladega had 39 aces in the match to Life U's 29.
Match 2: Johnson 3, Life U 0
It was a tight first set between the Royals and Running Eagles but Johnson was able to push the set to extra points 26-24.
The second set was all Royals as Johnson coasted to a 25-13 win. The Running Eagles did give a challenging third set but did fall 25-22.
Johnson and Life U had a similar amount of kills with Running Eagles earning 32 kills and Royals earning 33.
The Royals again led Life U with 11 blocks.
Up next, Life U will take on day two of the Talladega Invite with a match at 11 a.m against New College of Florida and another at 1 p.m. against Stillman College.
