MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Life U women's volleyball team claimed a 3-1 win on the road against the Eagles Saturday keeping Faulkner under ten points in the second set and under 20 in the first and fourth set.
It was an impressive night for Victoria Davenport and Chloe Teter who both totaled 13 kills for the Running Eagles. Junior Erica Irby was also in double figures with 11 kills.
Setter Gabriela Rivera led Life U with 33 assists, while Gianna DeVarenne led the Running Eagles with 13 digs while Rivera added 11 digs.
Life U was able to manage nine blocks with seven coming from freshman Destiny Drakeford.
Life U was able to secure the first set 25-19 and then rolled past the Eagles in a second set win of 25-9. In the third set, the Running Eagles fell short but did make a return to take the fourth set 25-15.
Up next, the Running Eagles will host Brewton-Parker College in conference action Friday inside the Upper Gym at 5 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
--After taking the first two sets and falling in the third, Life U was able to bounce back and leave no doubt.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Davenport and Teter both tallied 13 kills as Life U totaled 45 in the match.
--Drakeford had another phenomenal defensive game with seven of Life U's nine blocks.
