MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University's men's basketball team downed the Barons of Brewton-Parker 99-85 late Thursday night behind a red-hot offensive performance. The 99 point performance from the Running Eagles falls just one point short of matching its season high, previously set against Spartanburg on November 10.
Life U controlled the contest from the opening tip, starting the contest on a 7-0 run before carrying a 26-13 lead into the first media timeout. Though the Barons eventually cut the lead to as low as six, the Running Eagles headed into half with a commanding 50-35 lead.
Chaze Harris turned in a monster performance on the offensive end of the floor, leading all scorers with 23 points while also dropping a career-high 14 assists. Harris had no problem racking up assists as five different Running Eagles finished in double figures. Cortez Johnson also turned in a strong night, recording a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 13 boards.
Out of the half, Life U kept its foot on the gas, running up its biggest lead of the game to 28 points with just over ten minutes left in the contest. Despite a late push from the Barons, the Running Eagles secured the double-digit victory behind an impressive 52% shooting percentage from the floor. Life U never trailed in the contest.
Life U improves to 14-4 (7-2 SSAC) with the win over Brewton-Parker. The Running Eagles offense will look to carry over its success to Saturday as they take on Thomas at home in an SSAC match up. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
