CORALVILLE, Iowa - The Life University women's wrestling team delivered a commendable performance at the 2024 Soldier Salute tournament, securing second place with 199 points, closely trailing the University of Iowa's 215.5 points.
The Running Eagles crowned three individual champions:
- Anaya Falcon triumphed at 110 pounds, achieving a 16-5 technical fall over Iowa's Ava Bayless.
- Sarah Savidge dominated the 131-pound final with a swift 10-0 technical fall against Iowa's Emily Frost.
- Savannah Isaac clinched the 207-pound title by narrowly defeating Iowa's Jaycee Foeller with a 2-1 decision.
Additionally, three other competitors competed in championship bouts. The Running Eagles' Katherine Hernandez secured second at 103 lbs. Salyna Shotwell faced off against Iowa's Brianna Gonzalez, competing at a high level before ultimately losing via decision in the championship and Latifah McBryde delivered a tough performance in the 160-pound final, but was bested by the Hawkeyes' Olympic Silver Medalist, Kennedy Blades, who secured a 13-3 victory.
Other top notable performances and placers include Diana Gonzalez in 5th at 110, Kaci Bice, 8th at 110 lbs, Ariana Martinez in 3rd at 124 lbs, Anna Kresja in 5th at 124 lbs, both Olivia Mottley (4th) and Jordyn Chrisco (8th) at 131 lbs, Zaynah McBryde 7th at 138 lbs, Jamilah McBryde (3rd) and Christina Jaen (6th) at 145 lbs, and Maggie Graham 5th at 180 lbs.
