NEW ORLEANS, La. — The Life University women's basketball team dropped its road SSAC contest to the Lady Crusader of William Carey on Thursday night by a score of 68-51. The Running Eagles fell behind early and trailed for the entire 40-minute contest.
The Running Eagles started slow from the floor as Loyola opened the contest on a 10-4 run.
Dianis Hurtado drained a three with 02:02 left in the first to pull Life U within three but the Lady Crusaders offense continued to click as they closed the quarter with a seven-point lead.
A similar second quarter saw the Running Eagles trail by 18 at the half, with
Kenya Robinson leading Life U in scoring with six points at the break.
Out of the half, William Carey kept its foot on the gas, pushing the lead to as many as 31. Life U fought hard till the final whistle but remained unable to mount the comeback.
Brionna Sims and Robinson both finished the contest in double figures.
Up next, the Running Eagles remain on the road, traveling to Loyola University New Orleans for another SSAC match up on Saturday, February 1.
