MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's soccer team battled to a 3-0 win over the Nighthawks of Thomas late Friday night. Despite a scoreless first half, a pair of goals from Enrico Burigotto and one final goal from Vicente Cuquerella lifted the Running Eagles to a 3-0 win. The win keeps Life U unbeaten on the season and gives the squad its fifth SSAC win.

Life U and the Nighthawks battled for control throughout the first 45 minutes. Andrei Apostu saw the first real chance for his squad in the 28th minute. On the opposite end, Thomas had its best look in the 37th minute but were turned aside.

The majority action was in the middle third of the pitch and was riddled with physical play. There were 12 fouls in the first half.

Pawel Wolny was called in action just two times, making both saves.

Life U finally opened the scoring in the 53rd minute as Enrico Burigotto headed home the first goal of the contest. A beautiful ball swung into the box by William Galli found the head of the streaking Burigotto, who beat the keeper low-right.

Andrei Apostu nearly doubled the Running Eagles lead just minutes later but the shot rang off the cross bar and back into the midfield.

Burigotto once again found the back of the net in the 68th minute. Taking it all himself, the junior created space despite multiple defenders in front of him and tucked the ball off the inside of the left post for his second goal of the night.

Vicente Cuquerella added one final insurance goal for the Running Eagles just moments after to make it 3-0. Devin Koorn played a brilliant ball into the box, where Cuquerella finished the chance with a half volley.

The remaining minutes became a formality as Life U closed out the home contest with a 3-0 win.

"Great win versus a team that had our number these past couple of years," said Head Coach Alex Pama. "We changed some things in the second half which helped us get the win. We remain undefeated. Sunday, we thank our seniors and another game in a short period of time. We want to thank all our fellow athletes, faculty, administration and supporters for coming out again in such great numbers to help our boys win and achieve our goals."
