MARIETTA, Ga. — Life University Athletics continued its run of academic excellence during the Summer Quarter, setting another department record with a 3.272 GPA. A total of 292 student-athletes earned recognition on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, once again showcasing the Running Eagles' commitment to success in the classroom.

Among the Honor Roll recipients, 94 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA, while 97 achieved GPAs between 3.5 and 3.99. Additionally, 101 Running Eagles recorded GPAs between 3.0 and 3.49.

Sixteen teams reached the benchmark of a 3.0 or higher GPA, underscoring the depth of academic achievement across the department: women's swimming, men's swimming, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, women's track & field, women's flag football, women's rugby, men's club rugby, women's wrestling, men's wrestling, women's basketball, men's basketball, women's soccer, men's soccer, men's lacrosse, and competition cheer.

In a super tight race, Women's Swimming reclaimed the coveted GPA trophy, narrowly edging out both Men's Soccer and Men's Basketball for the honor.

The RISE Awards, recognizing the most dramatic academic improvement during the quarter, were presented to Baqi Lecky of Men's Basketball and Mercie Vivao of Women's Rugby. 

The department also proudly honored 43 graduating student-athletes representing 13 different teams at the Summer 2025 Commencement, marking another milestone in the department's tradition of academic and athletic excellence. Seventeen graduates earned academic honors, including three Doctors of Chiropractic and a record-setting 14 graduate degrees. Among the honorees, women's basketball's Tajma Krslak made history as the program's first Valedictorian in program history, becoming the seventh Life U student-athlete in a row to receive the university's highest academic honor.

Reflecting on the remarkable quarter, Life University Director of Athletics Jayme Pendergast shared, "I love our team! To stay locked in and committed to success during the summer quarter is truly a reflection of our 'great by choice' valued behavior. I'm really proud of our student-athletes, the leadership of our coaches, and the tremendous support staff that surrounds every student."
