Women's Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to Point

NEED TO KNOW
Score: Point 3, Life 0
Record: Life 9-6 (4-3 SSAC)

WEST POINT, Ga. — The Life University women's volleyball team came up short on the road Friday afternoon, dropping a hard-fought straight-sets match (25–22, 25–19, 26–24) to SSAC foe Point University. The Running Eagles had their chances in every set, especially in the third, but could not finish off key rallies as the Skyhawks held strong late in each frame.

The opener was tight throughout, featuring three ties, but early errors forced the Running Eagles to play from behind. Life clawed back within two at 20–18 following a kill by Paola Vega, yet Point answered with a pair of timely kills and closed out the frame 25–22.

In the second, the Running Eagles fell behind early and could not recover despite a balanced attack from Vega and Sarah Pipping. Point's efficient hitting (.526 in the set) proved too much as the Skyhawks claimed the stanza 25–19.

Set three saw the Running Eagles' best chance to extend the match. With strong serving from Alanis Calderon and kills from Vega and Pipping, the Running Eagles surged ahead late and reached set point at 24–23. Point then responded with three straight points, capping the night with a 26–24 win to complete the sweep.
