Women's Basketball Falls to #6 Freed-Hardeman

Records: Life U, 4-1; Freed-Hardeman, 8-0

MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University women's basketball team fell to the #6 Lions from Freed-Hardeman Saturday 77-35.

The Running Eagles fell behind early in this one, as the squad struggled from the field, and the visiting Lions opened the game on a 6-1 run. The Running Eagles got their first shot to go at the 7:40 mark of the period on a layup from Kaden McCorvey, and the second on a layup from Aniyah Offutt to cut the lead to just one (6-5). Life U still saw themselves down at the end of the period 20-11.

During the second period it was more of the same as the visiting Lions seemed to nail every shot they threw up, while the Running Eagles could not seem to get any kind of offense going, being outscored 20-8 during that period. Despite winning the first half free throw battle (8-5), Life U still found themselves down 40-19 going into the break.

Freed-Hardeman's Rachel Satterly and Lilly Kee turned on the heaters in the Eagles' Nest, as they were the leading scores for the Lions and shot 80% and 60% from the field, respectively. In the contest, four Freed-Hardeman players hit the double-digit mark in an impressive display of unselfish passing and above average shooting. The Lions hit 55% from the field but only shot 33% from beyond the arc.

After the 15-minute intermission, FHU came out wanting to put the game on ice and did just that outscoring the Running Eagles 21-4 and having their best shooting quarter of the game in the period. Heading into the final period, the Running Eagles were down 61-23. In the final period Life U had their best shooting performance of the game, but it wasn't enough to overcome the hot hands of the Lions losing to the #6 ranked Lions 77-35.

Up next, the Running Eagles look to get back on track in their first SSAC matchup of the season as they host Point University, on Thursday November 20th at 5:30 pm.
