TIFTON, Ga. — The Life University women's basketball team got back in the win column Saturday afternoon, defeating Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) 68-50 on the road in SSAC competition.

The Running Eagles came into the game having dropped their last two contests. The game started with ABAC jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead before a three-point jumper from Emily Perez gave Life U their first points of the game. Both teams continued to trade buckets throughout the first quarter until the Running Eagles carried a 20-18 lead into the second quarter.

Out of the quarter break, both teams picked up where they left off, trading buckets back and forth. Eventually, the Running Eagles found themselves up 33-24 after a layup from junior guard Myori Pruitt. This extended the game to their biggest lead up to that point. The Fillies of ABAC would not go away without a fight; converting a jumper, layup and free-throw over the next 40 seconds to find themselves down six. The Running Eagles then got a quick boost off the bench as a three-pointers from Marrissah Tate and another from Pruitt gave Life U a 44-33 lead at the break.

After halftime, Life U came out blazing outscoring the Fillies 16 to six in the frame while shooting 50% from the field and 75% from beyond the arc. The Running Eagles took a 60-39 lead into the final frame. In that final frame Life U was able to hang on for the victory despite being outscored in the quarter.
