TIFTON, Ga. – The Life University women's basketball team picked up its fourth straight win on Monday night, taking down ABAC for the second time in three days. The Running Eagles defense clamped down the Fillies offense in the third, allowing Life U to regain control of the contest after trailing at the half.
ABAC came out ready to defend its home court, trading blows with Life U early. Though the Running Eagles led early on, the Fillies closed the first quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 17-11 lead into the second.
Both offenses shot the ball well from the floor in the second. Life U narrowly trailed in the box score, shooting 38.1% from the floor while the Fillies posted a 38.5% shooting percentage. Kenya Robinson led the charge for the Running Eagles with eight points and four boards in the quarter, but her squad still trailed 36-32 at the break.
The defense came out ready in the second half, with Kaden McCorvey ripping three steals in the third quarter. As a unit, the Life U defense forced a game high eight turnovers from ABAC as they mustered just nine points in the quarter.
Now leading by seven, Aniyah Offutt opened the final quarter of action with a three, giving her team its first double-digit lead of the game. The Running Eagles offense continued to run away with the contest, eventually pushing the lead to 14 points with just 02:55 left to play.
The final minutes of the contest became a formality as Life U finished the contest with a 12 point victory. Brionna Sims and Kenya Robinson finished the contest tied for the team lead in points with 14. McCorvey nearly recorded a double-double finishing with ten points and nine rebounds.
