SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Life University women's basketball team capped off the 2025 regular season with a road win over Spartanburg Methodist. The Running Eagles defense locked down the Pioneers offense in the second half, allowing just 22 points.
It was a hot start for Life U, jumping out to a nine-point lead in the first quarter. Senior Dianis Hurtado was electric from downtown, going 3-5 from beyond the arch. Taking a five-point lead into the second quarter, the Pioneers continued to try to hang on while the Running Eagles spread the ball around on the offensive end. After concluding the first 20 minutes of play, Life U carried a four-point lead into the half.
The Running Eagles and Spartanburg Methodist came out of the break locked in a defensive battle. Both teams struggled to get a shot to drop for nearly four minutes, with each squad making just one basket from the floor. Life U continued to lock down the home standing offense, allowing just four buckets in the entire third quarter.
The fourth quarter saw much of the same as Life U stretched a double-digit lead to over 20 points while once again allowing just four buckets from the floor. Aniyah Offutt led the game in scoring, dropping 23 points while going 7-8 from the free throw line. Brionna Sims and Offutt were both extremely active on the defensive end, record four steals a piece. Sara Viti and Hurtado also finished in double figures on the offensive end.
Up next, Life U travels to Montgomery, Ala. for the conference tournament, taking on #3 Mobile on Thursday, February 27.
