MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The Life University women's lacrosse team won a thriller early Thursday afternoon against the Bobcats of St. Thomas. Kathryn Moody proved to be the hero, scoring the game-winning goal in the fourth period.

It was Roxie Beasley and Alyssa Curto to get the Running Eagles on the board early. The pair gave Life U a 2-0 lead before the Bobcats responded midway through the first. Lexi Santiago was quick to get the goal back but St. Thomas answered once again just seconds later, cutting the lead to 3-2.

The late goal in the first sparked an offensive outburst from the Bobcats, who poured in four-straight goals in the first six minutes of the second period. Finally putting an end to the run, Kathryn Moody, Nicole Ortiz and Curto put in three straight to level the score line, 6-6. Both offenses continued to fire away, with Santiago tying the contest once more with just 00:21 left in the half. There were a total of 11 goals scored in the period as the teams headed to the half tied at 8-8.

Both defenses found their footing in the third period, with just four goal combined being scored. Santiago completed her hat trick just ten seconds into the period while Mia DiCono scored her first of the contest with one minute left to play.

Deadlocked at 10-10 heading into the final 15 minutes, St. Thomas claimed the lead with 10:30 left in the period. However, Hannah Leon tied the game once more just five seconds later off an assist from Curto. Moody then took matters into her own hands, scoring unassisted with 05:38 left in the contest. The Life U defense answered the call, holding the Bobcats scoreless for the remaining five and a half minutes. The defense did not allow a single shot over the five and a half minute span.

Life U leaves Miami Gardens with a big 12-11 win over the Bobcats.

Up next, the Running Eagles stay in the Sunshine State, traveling to take on Keiser on Saturday, March 22.
