MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University men's lacrosse team secured a 21-5 victory over Montreat College Saturday evening at Lupo Family Field. A dominant second quarter allowed the Running Eagles to take full control as they cruised to their first win of the season.
Montreat opened the scoring early in the first quarter, but Life U responded with five goals. Mackoy Bodmer scored first off an assist from Josh Bell, followed by goals from Michael Levetown, Tristan Berry, and Jacob Long. Bell then added one of his own, giving Life U a 5-2 lead after the opening period.
The Running Eagles then broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Montreat 8-0, extending the lead to 13-2 by halftime. Eric Manfredonia led the way with three goals in the period, including one assisted by Bell. Jared Cordova, Long, and Bell each added to the total, as the Running Eagles maintained control.
In the second half, Montreat added three goals in the third, but Life U continued to press offensively. Long, Bodmer, Levetown, and Manfredonia each found the back of the net, while Montreat added two more. The Running Eagles entered the final period with a 17-5 advantage.
In the final period, the Running Eagles closed out the game with four unanswered goals. Manfredonia scored again while Long secured his fifth goal of the game. Levetown scored on a power play off an assist from Josh Faile and Cordova recorded the final gosl of the contest, his second, to cap off the 21-5 win.
