MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University women's lacrosse team picked up a midweek win over NCAA Division II opponent Bridgeport on Thursday night. The Running Eagles rallied for a late second half win that included a five-goal performance for Lexi Santiago.

Hannah Leon and Alyssa Curto got the scoring going early for the Running Eagles, finding the back of the net within the first six minutes of the contest. Life U looked to be settling in nicely before surrendering the final three goals of the period to trail 4-2 heading into the second.

The Purple Knights strengthened the lead with the opening goal in the second before it was the home squads turn to go on a run. Over the next twelve minutes of play, Life U proceeded to go on a four-goal run, nabbing the lead with 02:01 left in the half. However, the Bridgeport offense finally put an end to the run, scoring the equalizer with just 12 seconds on the clock, taking the game to a 7-7 tie at the break. Lexi Santiago scored the final three goals of the half for Life U, giving her a hat trick in the period.

With a man advantage early in the half, Mia DiCono gave the Running Eagles the lead back early as both teams strapped in for a hard-fought second half. Though the Purple Knights equalized a short time after, Santiago's fourth of the game gave Life U an 8-7 lead heading into the fourth period of action.

In the fourth, Leon added her second goal of the game but a pair of Bridgeport scores in the period left the contest level at 9-9 with just 03:39 to play. From there, a fifth and final goal from Santiago gave the Running Eagles a one-goal advantage before Roxie Beasley added a late insurance goal to secure the win. Goalie Ashley Hammel also made a crucial save in the dying seconds to lift her squad above the visitors.

Up next, Life U looks to carry the momentum into a home match up against #10 Marion (Ind.) on Saturday, March 8.
