MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University women's lacrosse team fell to the Knights of Marian (Ind.) on Saturday morning. In an offensive slug fest, the visitors landed the final few blows, exiting Marietta with a 16-14 win.

It was all Running Eagles early as the offense poured in four of the six opening goals of the contest. The game teetered on a blowout early, but three straight goals from the visiting Knights in the final three minutes pulled them back in the contest. Life U trailed 5-4 heading into the second despite leading for the majority of the opening period.

Hannah Leon and Alyssa Curto quickly gave the Running Eagles the lead back in the second with a pair of goals just minutes apart. Both offenses found their strides in the period, trading blows. The Running Eagles held a narrow edge at the break with Leon leading the team in scoring. Leon posted five first half goals on her way to a season-high seven goals in the game.

Both teams continued to fire away in the third period as Life U scrapped to hold the one-goal lead. Back-to-back goals from Lexi Santiago and Leon's sixth of the contest helped the Running Eagles carry a 12-11 lead into the final period of play.

It took just 31 seconds for the visitors to level the contest once more in the fourth, locking the teams at 12-all. For nearly half the period the score held, before Leon found the back of the net for the seventh time to give her squad the 13-12 lead. However, following the goal, the Knights controlled the remaining 08:42 left in the period and scored four of the final five goals in the game. Curto added her fourth goal of the contest late, but it was quickly answered by Marian as the contest concluded 16-14.

Up next, Life U has a quick turn around, traveling to Tennessee to take on Madonna (Mich) on Sunday, March 9.
