MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University men's lacrosse team fell late Saturday night to the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech (Mich.) at home. The visitors did just enough to hold the Running Eagles at arms length despite facing 44 shots from the home offense.

Eric Manfredonia opened the scoring with an unassisted goal to get Life U on the board early. Following a Blue Devils goal, Mackoy Bodmer connected with Jacob Long to give the home squad an early 2-1 lead. However, the promising start quickly went south as the Lawrence Tech offense posted the next five goals in the period. Josh Bell slowed the bleeding in the final 15 seconds of the period but Life U still trailed 6-3 heading to the second.

The Blue Devils opened the period with two quick scores before both defenses locked in. It appeared the Running Eagles would be held scoreless in the frame, but late goals from Josh Bell and Long pulled Life U back within three.

Out of the break, just one goal was recorded in the third period, with both defenses having a stellar performances. Trailing 9-5 heading into the final period, the Running Eagles would need a late rally to compete.

Long came out of the intermission on fire, posting back-to-back unassisted goals in the first three minutes of the period to draw his squad within two. Lawrence Tech responded with 09:08 to play but Manfredonia put in a goal of his own under a minute later. Trailing by just two, the opportunity to close the gap narrowly eluded the Running Eagles as the visiting Blue Devils put in two late goals to stretch the lead to four.

Though Jared Cordova scored unassisted late, the contest still finished in favor of Lawrence Tech.
