Women's Lacrosse Bounces Back with Sunday Rout of Madonna

ATHENS, Tenn. - The Life University women's lacrosse team picked up a bounce-back win over Madonna (Mich.) on Sunday afternoon. Playing the Crusaders at a neutral site in Tennessee, Mia DiCono was at the forefront of the Life U offense as she scored five goals in the contest.

It appeared as if the Running Eagles were going to find themselves in another battle. Hannah Leon scored the first goal in the contest just minutes in, but both teams remained scoreless after for nearly the entire period until Lindsey Bowbliss found the back of the net with 00:21 to play.

The second period proved to be an offensive showcase for the Running Eagles. Pouring in double-digit goals, Life U began to run away with the contest. Reese Phipps scored in the first 45 seconds of the period and Mia DiCono scored five goals over the next six minutes. As the offense continued to light up the Crusaders defense, the Running Eagles spent little time on the defensive end. By the time the dust settled, Life U carried a 12-0 lead into the half. The defense surrendered just two shots in the half.

Roxie Beasley, Lexi Santiago, Barrett Holston and Bowbliss all found the back of the net in the second half. Though Madonna finally got on the board, Life U cruised to an 18-2 victory. The defense allowed just four shots in the half while the offense concluded the game with 46 shots.

Up next, Life U returns home to take on #7 Missouri Baptist on Thursday, March 13.
