MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University men's volleyball team closed out their regular season on a high note with a commanding 3-0 sweep of Truett McConnell Thursday night in the Upper Gym. The Running Eagles dominated the match with set scores of 30-28, 25-20, and 25-16 to celebrate Senior Day.
In a thrilling opening set that featured multiple clutch plays and momentum swings, Life edged out Truett McConnell in extra points, 30-28. The set laid the groundwork for a stellar offensive night, as the Running Eagles rode that energy into the second and third frames, hitting an eye-popping .500 and .696 respectively.
The setting duo of Carlos Stadtlober and Nefty Vigo facilitated a balanced and precise offensive attack. Stadtlober dished out 23 assists while Vigo added 22, as five different hitters recorded at least three kills. Jakub Kantorowicz led all scorers with 15 kills on a .500 clip, while Serano Keijl chipped in 12 kills, hitting .455 and adding 13.5 total points.
Life's serve-and-block game made a key difference, with 6 total service aces and 5 blocks as a team. Vincent Eisinga contributed 3 service aces and 4 total blocks, adding 9.5 points to his stat line. The defense kept Truett McConnell in check, holding them to a .188 hitting percentage across all three sets.
The third and final set was all Life, as they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, out-hitting the visitors .696 to .100 and sealing the sweep with a 25-16 win.
