FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. -- The Life University women's lacrosse team fell in non-conference action to the Lions of Emmanuel. It was a hard-fought contest, with the Lions narrowly pulling away at the end.
Both teams traded goals in the opening period of action. Despite three-straight goals from Kathryn Moody, Life U was unable to take a lead in the second period. Two late goals from Emmanuel moved the score to 5-5.
It took just seconds for the Lions to take the lead in the second period before Nicole Ortiz responded. Though Emmanuel started to pull away midway through the period, late goals from Moody and Lexi Santiago tied the contest 01:20 left in the half.
Moody led all scorers in the contest with four goals at half time.
Both defenses settled in after the break, with just three goals being scored in the third period. Ortiz posted the lone goal for the Running Eagles in the frame.
Moody's fifth goal of the contest led off the final period of play, tying the game at 11-11. However, the Lions scored back-to-back goals just minutes after to take a 13-12 lead.
Though Roxie Beasley, Alyssa Curtis and Ortiz all found the back of the net in the period, Emmanuel's offense kept them in the lead. The contest concluded 16-14 in favor of the Lions.
