Women's Lacrosse Blows Past New College of Florida in Senior Day Win

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University women's lacrosse team blew past the Mighty Banyans of New College of Florida on Saturday morning. Six seniors were honored as the Running Eagles picked up the win on the special day.

The contest started with a monstrous first quarter from the Life U offense. Opening the contest with five-straight goals, the visitors mustered just one goal in response as the Running Eagles went on to score 11 goals in the frame. By the time the first period came to an end, seven different players scored a goal including a hat trick from Kathryn Moody

The second period featured more of the same as the defense surrendered zero goals while the offense tallied another six to give Life U a 17-1 lead heading into the half. Lexi Santiago and Moody both completed hat tricks before the half time break while Reese Phipps lead the team with five points (2G, 3A).

Out of the half, the home squad continued to dominate the contest, allowing just one goal in the second half from the Mighty Banyans. Life U added eight more goals in the half, winning the contest 25-2.

Up next, Life U travels to Emmanuel for a non-conference contest on Thursday, April 10 before concluding the regular season at SCAD on Saturday, April 12.

--Life U scored 11 goals in the opening period to run away with the contest early.

--Nicole Ortiz led the team with eight points in the game (4G, 4A).
--Alyssa Curto added three goals and three assists.
--Hannah Leon and Lexi Santiago each scored four goals in the contest.
--Reese Phipps had a standout game with six points (3G, 3A).
--Kathryn Moody had a hat trick in the first period.
