Second-Half Surge Boosts Life U to 6-0 Rout of Bryan

MARIETTA, Ga. — After enduring a lightning delay that pushed back the start of Thursday night's season-opener, Life University's women's soccer team rolled to a commanding 6–0 victory over Bryan College (TN) to open the season in commanding fashion.

Faith Martin opened the scoring early in the 2nd minute off an assist from Sara Diaz, giving the Running Eagles a quick 1–0 lead. After halftime, the offense came alive with five second-half goals to put the match out of reach.

Sacha Millward netted back-to-back goals in the 48th and 58th minutes, assisted by Helen Gutierrez, and Ava Brundidge through impressive early-season team build-ups. Ami Lewis added two goals of her own, including a penalty kick in the 81st minute, while Abigail Herron scored in the 76th minute off an assist from Ella Nuzum.

The Running Eagles dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Bryan 32–2 with 12 shots on goal. The Running Eagles also earned nine corner kicks while holding the Lions scoreless. Goalkeepers Elora Niederpruem, Justine Candel, and Laila Wade combined for the shutout, with the defense limiting Bryan to zero shots on target.

With the win, Life U improves to 1–0 on the season, while Bryan falls to 0–1.

The Running Eagles return to action at Lupo Family Field this weekend with another non-conference opponent. Kickoff against Reinhardt on Saturday is set for 6 pm.
