MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University women's lacrosse team dropped its 2026 home opener to NCAA Division III opponent Sewanee on Sunday afternoon. The Running Eagles and Tigers were locked in a battle for the majority of the second half, with the visiting Tigers making a late run.

It was all Running Eagles early at Lupo Family Field. Newcomer Tori Wolf kicked off the afternoon with an unassisted goal before Lilly Phillips found Roxie Beasley for a second goal just minutes later. Wolf and Beasley traded goals for the remainder of the period while the defense completely locked down the Tigers. Sewanee found its lone goal of the period with just seconds remaining as Life U carried a 5-1 lead into the second.

In the second period, both teams traded quick goals before Sewanee found its footing. Outscoring Life U 4-2 in the period, the Tigers trailed 7-5 heading into the break.

The script flipped out of the half time break as the Running Eagles had no answer for a hot Tigers start. The visitors poured in three-straight unanswered goals to take an 8-7 lead midway through the third. Sydney Matesevac, Beasley and Wolf answered back with three-straight of their own, once again putting Life U back in front.

However, the visitors out scored Life U late in the period, closing the gap to just one heading into the final frame. The fourth period belonged entirely to Sewanee as the Tigers offense scored four unanswered goals while the defense allowed 0 shots on goal in the period to the Running Eagles offense.
