MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University men's volleyball team battled throughout the night and pushed the match deep into an extended fourth set, but ultimately fell to Reinhardt, 3–1, Friday evening in AAC action in the Upper Gym.
The opening set set the tone for a competitive night between the two programs. Life U and Reinhardt traded points throughout the frame, with eight ties before the Running Eagles fought back to even the score at 24–24 late. Reinhardt managed to claim the final two points to escape with a 26–24 win.
Reinhardt carried that momentum into the second set, using a strong offensive run midway through the frame to create separation. The Eagles closed out the set 25–13 to take a 2–0 lead in the match.
Life answered in the third set with its strongest stretch of the night. The Running Eagles tightened things up defensively at the net and found more rhythm offensively, limiting Reinhardt's scoring runs before closing out a 25–22 set victory to extend the match.
The fourth set turned into a marathon battle. Both teams traded points well past the 25-point mark with multiple ties late, as the Running Eagles fought off match point opportunities and briefly grabbed the lead at 31–30. Reinhardt eventually secured the final two points to take the set 33–31 and close out the 3–1 victory.
Reinhardt finished the match with 57 kills and a .238 hitting percentage, while Life totaled 49 kills and recorded 15.0 team blocks in the defensive effort.
