WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Life University men's lacrosse team fell on the road to the #6 Patriots of Cumberlands on Saturday afternoon. Both teams were locked in a defensive battle early, with just two goals separating the two squads after the first period. However, the Patriots used a strong second period to build a sizeable lead that the Running Eagles could not overcome.

Both defenses started the game strong. It took nearly ten minutes for the first goal to be scored, with the Patriots finding the net back-to-back to take a 2-0 lead. The rest of the first remained silent as Life U recorded just seven shots in the frame.

The Cumberlands run continued into the second as the home offense found the back of the net twice, only 33 seconds apart, to take a 4-0 lead with 08:43 to go in the half. Tristan Berry found Jared Cordova shortly after as Life U finally got on the board in the game. The Patriots added two more midway through the half, taking a 6-1 lead to the break.

Out of the break, Berry connected with Meritt Turner just over two minutes into the third, pulling the Running Eagles within four. Berry continued to pick out his teammates, this time finding Cordova to cut the lead to three. The Patriots responded with a goal, but it did little to slow down the Life U momentum. Evan Sengstock responded with three-straight goals, all assisted by Berry, to pull the Running Eagles with one. Cumberlands finally found relief, netting a late-goal in the third to take an 8-6 lead into the final 15.

Despite the third-period rally, the fourth belong to the Patriots. Holding the Running Eagles scoreless, the Cumberlands offense added two insurance goals to take the 10-6 victory.
