Men's Volleyball Concludes Regular Season with Sweep over Newberry

Newberry, SC. — The Life University men's volleyball team wrapped up its regular season Friday afternoon with a straight-sets sweep of Newberry College (26–24, 25–20, 25–16) inside Eleazer Arena. The Running Eagles improve to 15-10 on the year and now turn their focus to the AAC Tournament next weekend.

The opening set proved to be the most competitive of the match, featuring 14 ties and multiple lead changes. Newberry stayed within striking distance throughout, using efficient attacking to keep pace. Life U answered with balanced offense and key plays late in the set, including kills from Charles Ewer, Jakub Kantorowicz, and Serano Keijl. After the teams were tied at 24–24, the Running Eagles closed on a 2–0 run to secure the 26–24 win.

Life U gained momentum in the second set, turning an early tight scoreline into a controlled advantage. The Running Eagles hit .333 in the frame with 15 kills, while limiting Newberry to a .132 hitting percentage. Jan Burhardt played a key role in the set with efficient attacking, and Riley Chapman continued to direct the offense effectively. A mid-set scoring run helped Life U create separation before finishing off a 25–20 set win.

In the third, the Running Eagles delivered their most complete performance of the match. Life U hit .417 with 17 kills and just two errors, while holding Newberry to a .063 hitting percentage. The defense and blocking were more consistent, contributing to six total team blocks across the match. Life U steadily extended its lead throughout the set and closed out the sweep with a 25–16 decision.
