ATHENS, Tenn. - The Life University men's lacrosse team blew past the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan on the road in a crucial AAC match up on Thursday afternoon. Life U dominated the contest straight out of the gate, but the home squad battled back to make it a tight contest late in the fourth period.

It was all Running Eagles to open the contest in Athens, Tenn. Jared Cordova found the back of the net twice to kick off the scoring before Evan Sengstock joined the party in the following minutes as Life U jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Alex McGuire added one more before the Running Eagles carried a four-goal lead into the second period.

The scoring continued for Life U as the lead grew to six early in the second. Though the Bulldogs finally got on the board in the contest, the visitor offense still found success in the second period. Power by a strong face off presence from Christofer Tyson and consistent offense, the Running Eagles carried a 7-3 lead into the half time break. Cordova and McGuire each added two goals in the first half.

The third period opened as a defensive battle, with neither team finding early success. Tennessee Wesleyan found the opening strike nearly half way through the frame before Sengstock responded with a goal of his own. However, the Bulldogs closed the gap significantly with two late strikes as the score line moved to 8-6 heading to the final 15.

The contest took a turn in the fourth, with the home standing Bulldogs netting the first two goals of the period to level the contest at 8-8. Erik Fornek left his mark on the contest at 06:27, retaking the lead for Life U on a brilliant strike. The sophomore did not stop there, making it a two-goal lead just minutes later off the pass from Tristan Berry. The two goals proved to be enough as the Running Eagles picked up a crucial win over the Bulldogs, 10-8.
