MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's volleyball team honored its seniors Friday night inside the Upper Gym but came up short against Emmanuel (Ga.), falling in straight sets, 3–0, in a nonconference matchup.
Prior to first serve, Life U recognized its senior class for their contributions and dedication to the program.
Emmanuel set the tone early in the opening set, using an efficient offensive attack and strong serving pressure to take control. The Lions hit at a high clip and capitalized on key runs to build separation, securing a 25–13 win and the early advantage.
Life U responded in the second set with a much stronger showing, settling into a rhythm offensively and competing point-for-point with Emmanuel. The set featured numerous ties and momentum swings, with the Running Eagles holding a late edge and pushing past the 25-point mark. However, Emmanuel executed in the closing moments, stringing together key plays to escape with a 28–26 victory and take a 2–0 lead.
The third set saw Life U continue to battle, turning in its most efficient hitting performance of the match. The Running Eagles stayed within striking distance throughout and challenged Emmanuel deep into the set. Despite the push, the Lions maintained their composure and capitalized late to secure a 25–23 win and complete the sweep.
Life U finished the match with 34 kills on a .222 hitting percentage, adding 32 assists and five total blocks. Emmanuel recorded 40 kills while hitting .426 as a team, aided by five service aces and nine blocks.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
— Serano Keijl led Life U with 11 kills.
— Jakub Kantorowicz added eight kills and four digs.
— Jan Burhardt contributed six kills and a block.
— Vincent Eisinga totaled four kills and led the team with four blocks.
— Riley Chapman dished out 14 assists.
— Nefty Vigo added 17 assists in the match.
