Women's Lacrosse Blows Past Georgetown in 22-9 Rout

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University women's lacrosse team got back in the win column with a dominant win over the Tigers of Georgetown on Wednesday afternoon. Despite a competitive first period, the Running Eagles dominated the second frame and never looked back.

The first frame opened competitive, with Reese Phipps kicking off the scoring on Lupo Family Field. The visiting Tigers responded with a pair of goals midway through the first, taking a 2-1 lead. Lilly Phillips answered shortly after to level the contest before Georgetown once again took the lead. The momentum flipped for Life U as the offense closed the period on a 4-1 run that included goals from Hannah Leon, Tori Wolf and Phipps. The Running Eagles carried a 6-4 lead into the second period.

In the second, the Life U defense held the visitors scoreless while the offense found its stride. The team boasted an eight-goal run in the period, taking a 14-4 lead into the half time break. The momentum continued out of the break as the lead never fell below double-digits for the remainder of the contest.

The Running Eagles posted eight second-half goals to just five from the visitors. The score line finished at 22-9 in favor of Life U. Seven different Running Eagles found the back of the net, with six scoring two or more goals. Wolf led the charge with five goals while Phillips and Roxie Beasley each added four. 

On the defensive end, 11 different Running Eagles had a caused turnover, with Phillips causing five on her own.

--Life U dominated the second quarter, out scoring the visitors 8-0 and taking a 14-4 lead at the break.
