2026 Women's Flag Football Season Recap

2026 WOMEN'S FLAG FOOTBALL RECAP

  • The Life University Women's Flag Football program posted an 11-6 record overall and went 6-3 in the Sun Conference.
  • The team went on to a Sun Conference Tournament berth, traveling to Lake Wales, Fla., beating Thomas University 32-7 to earn a spot in the Semifinals.
  • The Running Eagles finished as the 12th-ranked team in the Nation.
  • The team boasted 1 First Team All-Conference player, 1 Second Team All-Sun Conference player and 1 All-Tournament team member.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Women's Flag Football team finished the regular season on a 5-game winning streak. The Running Eagles program saw its first win over Reinhardt in program history.
    • The Running Eagles bested the Eagles 39-13 with dominating defense in the second half and a strong offensive performance by Altierra Gooch, who had 3 receptions for 3 touchdowns and 93 yards.
  • To close out the regular season, the Running Eagles beat an NCAA Division 1 opponent in Alabama State University.
    • Beating the Hornets 39-6, the defense came up with 4 interceptions, 2 of them being by Xavia Man, and 6 touchdowns thrown by Cheyenne Brooks, 3 of which were caught by Elora Niederpruem.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • The Life University Women's Flag Football team had 2 All-Conference Selections.
    • First Team All-Conference- Dacha Branham RB/B
    • Second Team All-Conference- Promise Cooper S
  • The team also boasted 3 Daktronics Scholar Athletes;
    • Makayla Morgan, Latoya Mitchell, and Dechea Branham.
  • The Running Eagles led the Country in yards per completion (12.2).
  • The team left its mark in the record books.
    • Altiera Gooch, Dechea Branham, and Elora Niederpruem all recorded over 700 receiving yards.
    • Cheyenne Brooks broke the school record for passing yards and touchdowns with 3712 yards and 46 touchdowns, along with a Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week selection.
    • Altiera Gooch broke the school record for receiving touchdowns with 17.
    • Lalia Wade broke the school record for most solo tackles with 54.
    • Promise Copper broke the school record for interceptions with 9.
  • For her work in the SUN Conference Tournament, Dechea Branham was named to the All-Tournament team.
