MOUNT VERNON, Ga. — The Life University women's soccer team remained unbeaten and perfect in Southern States Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon, rolling past Brewton-Parker 10-0. The victory improved the Running Eagles to 7-0-1 overall and 4-0 in SSAC competition.
Life U wasted little time finding the breakthrough. Linn Joelsson opened the scoring in the sixth minute off an assist from Kayla McMillian. Sara Diaz added another in the ninth minute before Victoria Valles made it 3-0 in the 14th minute.
The Running Eagles continued to add to their lead before halftime. Jasmin Slump converted a penalty kick in the 21st minute before Djenna Zahoual scored twice, finding the back of the net in the 28th and 36th minutes. Zahoual's second goal was assisted by Louise Martineau. Ava Brundidge capped the first-half scoring in the 41st minute as Life carried a 7-0 advantage into the break.
Life added three more goals after halftime. Linn Adolfsson Funk scored in the 63rd minute before Caroline White found the back of the net less than two minutes later. Angie Le Roux completed the scoring in the 68th minute off an assist from Lylou Billot, giving the Running Eagles a 10-0 advantage.
Defensively, Life posted another shutout, limiting Brewton-Parker to just four shots and two shots on goal. Elora Niederpruem and Ariadna Da Rocha Da Silva combined for two saves as the Running Eagles secured the clean sheet.
