Life U is pleased to announce that Anthony Maxwell will be the head coach of the Women's Basketball team that will commence its first season in the fall of 2016.  Maxwell, affectionately known as "Max," is a former Life U player who won an NAIA national championship and earned All-American during the 1990s with the Running Eagles.  He has been serving for the past four years as an assistant coach for the Life U Men's Basketball team.

"Max has shown himself to be a great example and mentor to Life U student-athletes for the past four years," said Life U Athletics Director Dan Payne.  "His loyalty to the department and his desire to uphold the mission and values of Life U Athletics played a major role in his promotion.  I have no doubt he will be successful in building the Women's Basketball program within our model and develop great character in his student-athletes."

"I am honored to have this opportunity," said Maxwell.  "It's a privilege to be part of the exciting growth we are experiencing in our athletic department and at our university right now.  It's a great time to be at Life U and I look forward to building a top notch women's program from the ground up."

The first season of women's basketball will be in the fall of 2016, so Maxwell will be on the recruiting trail this fall and winter looking for qualified student-athletes who are interested in earning one of 12 undergraduate degrees offer by Life U.  Said Maxwell, "There is so much local talent right her in the metro area.  I plan to hit the recruiting trail hard and build an exciting team that Life U will be proud of."
