KANSAS CITY, Mo. – This week, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics held its annual National Awards Day, naming its NAIA Scholar Teams in the process. Led by women's swimming's 3.62 team GPA, 13 of Life U's eligible 19 athletic programs qualified for the NAIA Scholar Team award.
Collectively, the Life University Athletic Department's GPA was 3.11 for the 2023-24 academic year.
In order for teams to qualify for the prestigious honor, programs must earn a team GPA of at least 3.0. Women's soccer, women's lacrosse, competitive cheer, women's basketball, men's soccer, women's wrestling, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, women's outdoor track, women's indoor track, men's lacrosse and men's swimming all join women's swimming on the list.
The Running Eagles also had 73 student-athletes earn individual NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete awards. In order to be a recipient of the NAIA-Daktronic Scholar-Athlete award, the athlete must be a sophomore or above in academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
