MARIETTA, Ga. — The #1 Life University women's wrestling team hosted a pair of duals Wednesday, taking on Lindsey Wilson College at 2 pm before being featured in a FloWrestling Night in America broadcast against Presbyterian College at 7 pm. The Running Eagles delivered commanding performances, emerging victorious in both contests with a 38-8 win over Lindsey Wilson and a 34-10 triumph against Presbyterian.
Life U vs Lindsey Wilson
The Running Eagles kicked off the day by asserting dominance over Lindsey Wilson. The match opened with Brianna Funakoshi earning a technical fall at 103 lbs., quickly setting the tone with a 10-0 victory. Kaci Bice followed at 110 lbs. with another technical fall, 11-0, widening the lead.
Jasmine Godinez and Ariana Martinez both secured falls at 117 lbs. and 124 lbs., respectively, pushing the team score to 18-0. Sarah Savidge continued the streak with a technical fall at 131 lbs., increasing the advantage to 22-0. Despite a fall by Ta`Jai Broadnex at 138 lbs. giving Lindsey Wilson their only points, Christina Jaen's narrow decision at 145 lbs. extended Life U's lead.
Ugochi Anunobi and Margaret Graham furthered the dominance with back-to-back forfeits at 160 lbs. and 180 lbs., respectively. The final match saw Anetra Witherspoon pin her opponent at 207 lbs., sealing the comprehensive 38-8 victory.
Life U vs Presbyterian
In the second dual, Life U faced Presbyterian College and continued their impressive form. Katherine Hernandez initiated the action at 103 lbs. with a technical fall, finishing the match 10-0. Anaya Falcon repeated the feat at 110 lbs., winning 10-0 as well.
While Anna Krejsa narrowly lost a hard-fought 11-8 decision at 124 lbs., Sarah Savidge rebounded for Life U with another technical fall at 131 lbs. Zaynah McBryde and Christina Jaen each added victories, with McBryde's technical fall and Jaen's fall putting Life U ahead 20-4.
Ugochi Anunobi secured a decision victory at 160 lbs., and Reka Busa added a technical fall at 180 lbs., further extending the lead. Savannah Isaac capped off the dual with a fall at 207 lbs., bringing the final score to 34-10.
Up next, the Running Eagles travel to compete in the annual Warrior Duals and Warrior Open next weekend on the campus of Indiana Tech.
