MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University women's wrestling team continued its 2025–26 season opening weekend with impressive performances at the Eagle Madness Open. Overall, the Running Eagles earned four individual titles dominating several weight classes, led by championship runs from Alyssa Quezaire (103 lbs), Ariana Martinez (110 lbs), Lahela Turnquest (138 lbs), and Reka Busa (180 lbs).
At 103 lbs, Alyssa Quezaire wasted no time setting the tone for the season, starting her day with a 32-second fall before adding a gritty 6-4 decision and a tech fall on her way to the finals. She closed out her title run with a commanding 14-4 tech fall in the championship match to secure Life's first Eagle winner of the day.
#5 Ariana Martinez and #7 Diana Gonzalez highlighted the team's depth at 110 lbs, meeting in an all-Life University championship final. Martinez was impressive from start to finish, recording two pins and a tech fall before earning an 11-2 decision over Gonzalez for the title. Gonzalez also impressed on her way to second, collecting two falls and an 11-2 semifinal win to reach the finals.
At 138 lbs, Lahela Turnquest continued her strong start to the year with an explosive performance, recording two tech falls and a pair of pins, including a 1:37 fall in the finals over Gianna Dibenedetto (D2 Emmanuel), to capture her first title of the season.
Later, #2 Reka Busa delivered a dominant showing at 180 lbs. The talented sophomore steamrolled through her bracket with a tech fall, a pin, and an injury default before finishing with a flawless 10-0 tech fall in the championship match against Shaylin Potter (Montreat).
The Running Eagles also earned several podium finishes to cap an excellent season debut. Jordyn Chrisco placed second at 131 lbs after a strong run to the finals that featured two falls and a decision win, while Kennedy Russell earned third at 124 lbs with a day that included two tech falls, two pins, and a forfeit victory in her final match. Lexy Pabon joined her on the podium with a third-place finish at 131 lbs, collecting four tech fall wins and a decisive 13-0 shutout in the placement bout. Sidney Sullens placed fourth at 124 lbs after winning seven matches (five by fall and two by decision) through a tough bracket. Rounding out the top finishes were Christina Jaen (5th, 138 lbs), who picked up four pins in a gritty effort, and Anetra Witherspoon (6th, 207 lbs), who recorded two falls in the consolation rounds.
Several other Running Eagles also made promising starts to their seasons. Macie Anderson (103 lbs) notched two tech fall victories and reached the consolation semifinals before being eliminated. Maria Graves (124 lbs) and Mariah Robbins (124 lbs) each gained early-season experience in their brackets, with Robbins exiting due to injury after a strong start. Coleby Velasquez (138 lbs) added a tech fall win in her opening matches, while Narvena Sallom (180 lbs) and Madeline Welch (207 lbs) both picked up wins.
